Microbiology For Dummies (9781119544425) was previously published as Microbiology For Dummies (9781118871188). While this version features a new Dummies cover and design, the content is the same as the prior release and should not be considered a new or updated product. Microbiology is the study of life itself, down to the smallest particleMicrobiology is a fascinating field that explores life down to the tiniest level. Did you know that your body contains more bacteria cells than human cells? It’s true. Microbes are essential to our everyday lives, from the food we eat to the very internal systems that keep us alive. These microbes include bacteria, algae, fungi, viruses, and nematodes. Without microbes, life on Earth would not survive. It’s amazing to think that all life is so dependent on these microscopic creatures, but their impact on our future is even more astonishing. Microbes are the tools that allow us to engineer hardier crops, create better medicines, and fuel our technology in sustainable ways. Microbes may just help us save the world. Microbiology For Dummies is your guide to understanding the fundamentals of this enormously-encompassing field. Whether your career plans include microbiology or another science or health specialty, you need to understand life at the cellular level before you can understand anything on the macro scale. Explore the difference between prokaryotic and eukaryotic cellsUnderstand the basics of cell function and metabolismDiscover the differences between pathogenic and symbiotic relationshipsStudy the mechanisms that keep different organisms active and alive You need to know how cells work, how they get nutrients, and how they die. You need to know the effects different microbes have on different systems, and how certain microbes are integral to ecosystem health. Microbes are literally the foundation of all life, and they are everywhere. Microbiology For Dummies will help you understand them, appreciate them, and use them.

Reviews from Amazon users which were colected at the time this book was published on the website:
This book would be better for bare basic micro. I’m in a paramedical microbiology course and honestly it did nothing to help. It didn’t break down bacterial shapes enough or viruses enough either. So if you’re in a lower division course this is perfect, other wise search for EZ microbiology in amazon books. The book is in really good shape and it got here super fast so I’m rating my stars on that otherwise it would be 2 stars at most otherwise
I thought i could use this for my microbiology class (like i did the A&P for dummies). It didn’t help at all. My friend also tried to use it some time ago and she said it didn’t help her either. Seems like a good book. It just didn’t work for the three ppl I knew
I bought this for kindle as a study aide for my basic Microbiology class for the nursing program. Unfortunately this book falls short of explaining much in detail. It provides a very generic, high level overview of Mirco. At best if helps clarify a few terms and gives examples. If you want a book that helps you better understand the concepts you are studying, look elsewhere.
if you are going to nursing school or even think about going to nursing school, this book will be of a great help. Yes I heard that microbiology is boring but this book will give you a better understanding about it.
It has everything we are covering in class and it makes it easier to understand.
I bought this book for help me with my class and I like it. Almost all the information of everything I see in class
Arrived quickly and in perfect condition. It is perfect as a supplemental material to my Microbiology class that I am currently enrolled in. Highly recommend this book to anyone who needs Micro broken down.
This was a great refresher for me after not taking microbiology in years. Very concise.
Very helpful. Got me through my second degree equivalent with a merit. Breaks everything down into easier to read chunks.
I love the ‘dummies’ books, while T uni I have bought them for as many topics as I can that I study. I feel they have helped me to understand the basics before I delve into further reasearch! Very easy to understand and digest the information and easy understandable to someone with no science background! I bought the e book for my kindle and love it as it allows me to make notes of things on the different pages and also highlight any text I need to!
I love these books
Love these books , so simple and easy to read and learn
great book for help with study
