not much difference in content of both editions between 3 and 4 edition. the 3 edition contain 113 chapters and 2000 pages, the 4 has 104 chapters and 1600 pages. to review the contents of both editions in detail, in my personal opinion, not jsutfica change from 3 to 4 edition, because they are essentially the same edition, there are some differences in the design of the pages and content of some chapters yet even that written information differently is the same in most of the chapters. is still an excellent book of hospital epidemiology, but has not needed the edition 3 Issue 4, I’m an internist with postgraduate studies in epidemiology and am currently the head of the epidemiology department of a hospital of 250 beds. I have 15 years of experience in epidemiology. for that reason I keep updated with the literature.

This book along with the APIC Text of Infection Control and Epidemiology (3rd ed, 2009) are the definitive reference books on the subject, and a comprehensive review of this book is beyond my capabilities.I would like to point out a problem with this edition: at the end of each chapter there are listed only the key references and the rest are online. The online references are cited with italics.The problem is that the online edition has ONLY the online references. Therefore if you need to check references you need to look both at the book and at the online edition. I believe that it would be much more helpful if the online edition contained ALL references.
Excellent book. Worth the price. This book is useful both as a basic and reference book for infection control & epidemiology.It covers all aspects of Hospital infection control. Online version is also quite useful more making presentations.
