Perhaps more basic information than I wanted. I was hoping for something more in depth. I do think for such a small book, the price is rather high.

I don’t think it’s a bad book. It’s just not written for a cardiology, crit care, CT surgery fellow. I suspect most residents will find this too basic.

A great introductory book! If you want more detailed info, this is not it.

One of the best introductory books on ECMO! It’s easy to read and provides a thorough coverage of the most common issues experienced at the bedside. I strongly recommend it to residents and critical care fellows taking care of these challenging patients in the ICU.

This slim volume gives a clear overview of the topic. The essential elements are addressed. Important points are highlighted and the references are more than adequate. All involved in use of this technique would benefit from reading this book.

It was quick and the history was very informational.

There have been couple of books discussing the ECMO issues more deeply (Gravlee, Kormos & Miller, Sangalli or even ELSO “Red Book”), but none of them provides such a brief and clear overview of the modalities and their management as this publications which is in line with other Cambridge University Press medical publications. It should be the first choice especially for those who are looking for fast review, but its slim format makes it very portable and thus attractive for advanced practitioners as well.

This easy to read pocket size book offers a comprehensive overview of ECMO life support. Included are history and development, clear explanation of different ECMO configurations and management of an ECMO patient from cannulation to decannulation. A perfect introduction and guide to not only a critical care nurse learning how to ECMO but I believe any other healthcare professionals interested in ECMO would enjoy and benefit from reading this book.
