The aim of this book is to focus on the coronary angioplasty. Advances in technology and pharmacotherapy, a better understanding of the pathophysiology of the atherosclerotic plaque and improved imaging intravascular ultrasound (IVUS), and optical coherence tomography (OCT), have enabled an exponential increase in numbers and an expansion in indications for percutaneous coronary interventions. Percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) has overtaken coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) in most categories of coronary artery disease (CAD) requiring revascularization. This book is very useful to the beginners, are balanced with pathophysiology, and intervention in specific conditions, e.g. left main or during acute myocardial infarction (AMI).
