Reviews from Amazon users which were colected at the time this book was published on the website:
I suppose the usefulness of this book will vary from reader to reader. As a board certified academic anesthesiologist about ten years into practice, I have found almost no new information in this book. Most of the studies are between 10-30 years old. Some are eye rolling in their uselessness (TEE is a safe procedure. Yay.) Others are key studies such as POISE, but these should be familiar to all practitioners already.Perhaps a medical student or CRNA student could get more out of this. This book is too simple and out of date even for residents.I have found a number of typographical errors as well.
Whether you are in academic or clinical anesthesia, it is important to know which studies have shaped our field; rather than spend hours digging through UpToDate pickup this book instead. The series has been a hit another subspecialties I am glad they finally addressed anesthesia and pain medicine. My husband and I (anesthesiologists in academia and frequent contributors to the ASA, ABA, ASRA, and SNACC) encourage our residents and fellows to review it. Being able to reference a study always solidifies an argument and enhances a discussion. The Miller/Barash of publications! #mustRead
